Red chile ristras are the strung pods of dried red chiles that you see displayed near arches, doors and windows all over New Mexico. Serving as a symbol of welcome, ristras are an iconic decoration in New Mexico, especially during the harvest months and holidays. They are said to bring health and good luck.

The October Ristras Tea Towel celebrates my New Mexican/Italian roots. My mother grew up in the little coal mining ghost town of Dawson, New Mexico near the Raton Pass. Our family meals always had a touch of hot peppers to spice dishes - sometimes New Mexican hatch chiles and sometimes Calabrian chiles.

Wishing all of you a spicy and colorful fall.

Tea towels are wood blocked by hand so each one is unique. Our high-quality, supple linen holds up extremely well, growing softer and more absorbent with each wash. You get a modern heirloom and work of art at a better cost than most machine-printed linen towels.
